Ithu Pathiramanal: A Malayalam Action Thriller from 2013
Ithu Pathiramanal (English: Sands of Night) is a Malayalam action thriller film directed by M. Padmakumar and starring Unni Mukundan, Jayasurya and Ramya Nambeesan. The film was released on 15 March 2013 and received negative reviews from critics and audiences. The film was a flop at the box office.
The film revolves around Eldho (Unni Mukundan), who lives in a hill station with his mentally challenged mother. His mother was raped by a police constable named Shouri (Pradeep Rawat) when Eldho was a child, and she gave birth to a girl named Sara (Ramya Nambeesan). Eldho's father Johnkutty (Jayasurya) tried to avenge his wife's rape but was killed by Shouri. Eldho grows up with a thirst for revenge and reaches Pathiramanal, a place in Kuttanad, where Shouri lives with his daughter Sara. Eldho plans to kill Shouri and his daughter, but things take a different turn when he falls in love with Sara.
The film was shot in various locations in Marayur, Pathiramanal and Alappuzha. The music was composed by Afzal Yusuf and the lyrics were written by Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma and Beeyar Prasad. The film had three songs: \"Ekakiyay\" sung by K. J. Yesudas, \"Eriveyil\" sung by Shreya Ghoshal and \"Alolam\" sung by Najim Arshad and Mridula Warrier.
Ithu Pathiramanal is a film that tries to blend romance, action and revenge, but fails to create an engaging or convincing plot. The film suffers from poor direction, weak script, cliched characters and lack of logic. The film also has many loopholes and inconsistencies that make it hard to follow. The performances of the lead actors are also mediocre and do not evoke any sympathy or emotion. The film is a disappointing attempt at making a commercial entertainer that lacks originality and quality.
The film also has some subplots involving Sara's friends Murukan (Bhagath Manuel) and Salomi (Jyothi Krishna), who are in love with each other but face opposition from their families. Murukan is a fisherman who wants to marry Salomi, who is a Christian. Salomi's father is a priest (P. Balachandran) who disapproves of their relationship. Murukan also has a rivalry with Thankan (Anil Murali), a local goon who works for Shouri. Thankan tries to harm Murukan and Salomi several times, but Eldho intervenes and saves them.
The film reaches its climax when Eldho confronts Shouri and reveals his identity and motive. Shouri is shocked to learn that Eldho is his son and Sara is his sister. He tries to kill Eldho, but Sara comes in between and gets shot. Eldho then kills Shouri and escapes with Sara. They reach a hospital where Sara undergoes surgery. The film ends with Eldho waiting outside the hospital, hoping that Sara will survive and forgive him.
Ithu Pathiramanal is a film that fails to deliver on its promise of being a thrilling and entertaining action film. The film has many flaws and drawbacks that make it a tedious and boring watch. The film lacks coherence, logic, suspense and emotion. The film also has many unnecessary scenes and songs that drag the pace and length of the film. The film is a waste of time and money for the viewers who expect something better from the makers. aa16f39245
