A group from Padua consisting of Thomas Bifano (piano, keyboards), Francesco Valducci (percussion), Gianfranco Baima (bass), and Thomas Fiore (drums). Bifano, born in 1947 in Padua, is a multi instrumentalist and composer. He graduated in piano at the Conservatorio di Musica di Padova in 1972, then continued his studies and graduated in composition in 1975. He has been a professor of piano at Padova Conservatory since 1975. Already in 1974 he founded Piano-Ivory, a musical collective that would one day become the organic part of the Vilotti Quartet. Piano-Ivory features a guest musician every time. In 1980 he formed the electroacoustic duo with bassist Valducci. They released the CD Joker which was a great experience. In that period, together with his colleague in Piano-Ivory, drummer Guido Sofia, Bifano created the experimental group Projektorium and released the self-titled LP in 1975. Since 1976 he has been one of three pianists of the Quartet and, together with bassist Luciano Cogliati and drummer Tilo Herbst, he is the only one recognized as part of the core of the group. With that quartet they have participated in more than 30 concerts and recorded eleven LP's and one CD release. His piano solos have been recorded for many of the CD's recorded by the Quartet. The eleven LP's recorded by the Quartet are all highly praise-worthy and, one of them (it is the double bass LP) has been voted in our top 50 releases of the last twenty years.
